Germany - Dresden to Berlin

The Brandenburg Gate was built in the late 1700s by the Prussian King Frederick William II as a key entry point to the city of Berlin. It was inspired by Athens' Acropolis. The statue of the goddess of victory driving a chariot pulled by four horses sits on top but that was not always the case. Napoleon whisked it away when he occupied the city in 1806 but it was restored again after Prussian soldiers captured Paris in 1814.
